Judo: The Gentle Way of Power and Precision

Judo, meaning "the gentle way," is a Japanese martial art and Olympic sport that emphasizes throws, pins, and submission techniques. Founded by Jigoro Kano in 1882, Judo is about using your opponent’s strength against them—making it a game of leverage and technique rather than brute force. Practiced in a gi (uniform), Judo matches are intense yet respectful. The sport focuses on discipline, self-control, and mental fortitude. There are two main areas in Judo: standing techniques (nage-waza) and ground techniques (ne-waza). Judo is practiced worldwide and is a part of the Olympics. In India, it has gained momentum with athletes participating in international championships. With government support and growing interest, Judo is becoming a prominent sport in schools and colleges.
